SleepWeaver® Prevent

SleepWeaver Prevent

SleepWeaver® Prevent

SleepWeaver® Prevent, which uses an integrated KN95 Mask to filter exhaled air, provides an additional level of isolation for CPAP/NIV patients with known or suspected respiratory infections. Circadiance is offering this new combination filter and CPAP mask to address the following concerns during the COVID-19 public health emergency:

  • Risks to healthcare personnel and visitors from PAP therapy in the clinical space.
  • Risks to bed partners and family members during in-home PAP therapy.

The SleepWeaver® Prevent includes:

  • SleepWeaver 3D Mask, Blue
  • SleepWeaver 3D Regular or Large Headgear
  • Modified KN95 Filter Mask
  • Instructions for Use

The CDC and American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) have cautioned about the possible transmission of COVID-19 during aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs) in procedural care settings. Guidance from the AASM advocates the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for staff administering PAP therapy. Patients undergoing PAP therapy have limited PPE options to reduce the risk to healthcare personnel, caregivers, and visitors. With this new combination CPAP/Filter Mask, medical professionals can offer patients a mask that will reduce risks in the clinical space and when they’re sleeping at home. Is the SleepWeaver Prevent a specialty mask?

The SleepWeaver Prevent, combination filter/CPAP Mask is intended to provide an additional level of isolation for CPAP/NIV patients with known or suspected respiratory infections. This mask is intended for single-patient use in the home and single-patient use in the hospital / institutional environment. This mask is to be used on individuals who are greater than 66 lbs (30 kg).

Does SleepWeaver Prevent treat COVID-19?

SleepWeaver Prevent does not prevent or treat COVID-19. The filter on SleepWeaver Prevent is intended to reduce (but cannot eliminate) exhaled aerosolized particles being spread to the environment. All people who come in contact with a patient who may have COVID-19 should use protective gear and personal hygiene to prevent the transmission of the disease.

Is SleepWeaver Prevent FDA approved?

SleepWeaver Prevent has not been FDA cleared or approved. SleepWeaver Prevent has been authorized by the FDA under a EUA. SleepWeaver Prevent is authorized only for the duration of the COVID-19 Emergency Declaration.

Will SleepWeaver Prevent work with my existing CPAP or Bi-Level machine?

SleepWeaver products are designed to work with all standard CPAP and Bi-level machines.

Does SleepWeaver Prevent have an exhalation valve?

The exhalation “valve” on the SleepWeaver 3D portion of the mask is a series of very small holes that gently and quietly exhaust the exhaled air from the mask. These holes provide quiet operation without creating a jet of air that make a lot of noise. The KN95 portion of the mask covers these holes to reduce risks to those around the user.

Does the SleepWeaver Prevent come in different sizes?

The soft cloth portion of the mask is only available in one size and the headgear is available in regular and large. The most accurate measurement is directly under the jawline. If you measure 16 inches (41cm) or above, then you should consider the large size headgear. If you measure 16.5 inches (42 cm) or less, then you should consider the regular size headgear. The SleepWeaver Prevent is intended to be used on individuals who are greater than 66 lbs (30 kg).

What should I do if I am experiencing leaks with my SleepWeaver Prevent?

You should make sure your measurements are accurate. If your measurement falls between the two headgear sizes, then you should try each size headgear to see which one provides the best fit. You can also review the fit tip video online at https://circadiance.com/preventvideos/.

Does the mask come in different colors?

No. The SleepWeaver Prevent is available only in blue with a white filter.

From what material is the mask made?

The cloth is the same material used to make winter ski clothing. A portion of the mask that contacts the skin contains polyester, nylon, and elastane. The cloth material is “breathable” meaning that the material wicks moisture and heat away from the user’s skin. The headgear consists of polyurethane foam, nylon, and lycra. The KN95 portion of the mask is made from five layers. Shell: Non-woven Fabric Filter: Meltblown (x2) Inner: Non-woven Fabric Earloop: Spandex Nose Clip: Aluminum

Will insurance cover the cost of a mask?

In the U.S., the SleepWeaver Prevent is covered under CMS codes A7034 & A7035 for Nasal Mask and Headgear.

How long will it take to become comfortable with the SleepWeaver Prevent?

Most users report that after the first night using our SleepWeaver product, it is the most comfortable mask they have ever tried! However, it can sometimes take longer than one night to become accustomed to new equipment, especially if you are new to CPAP and sleep therapy. Follow the instructions provided by your medical equipment supplier. We also encourage you to view the SleepWeaver Prevent videos, read the instructions, and call us for support if necessary (888-825-9640). Once you are comfortable with your new SleepWeaver Mask, you too will experience the restful sleep you have been missing.

In what position can the tubing be run when using a SleepWeaver product?

With SleepWeaver Prevent, it is recommended you place the hose down towards the user’s chest, or off to either side. If you wish to direct the tubing over their head, i.e. behind the headboard of the bed, ensure that a sufficient length of tube is available so that no major kinks are in the tubing. Some PAP users connect 2 lengths of tubing to provide a longer hose which allows greater freedom of movement. Circadiance also sells the following accessories to assist in positioning the hose to your preference: Feather Weight Tub, Tether Straps, and Hose Clips.

Will the mask attach to any brand of machine?

The fitting on the SleepWeaver Prevent fits the 22mm ISO standard port which is used on most PAP Machines.

Can I use Supplemental Oxygen?

Yes. The mask can be used with machines that have that option. Refer to your machine’s user manual for more information.

How do I clean the SleepWeaver Prevent Mask?

Hand wash the CPAP Mask and Headgear every day with a mild, nonabrasive soap in warm water. Air dry out of direct sunlight. The KN95 Mask Filter is not to be reused. Circadiance provides Replacement KN95 Filters for the SleepWeaver Prevent. Replace the Filter Mask with a new KN95 Filter Mask daily. Recommend disposal in a biohazard container.

Can the exhalation valve get plugged or clogged?

As long as the mask is properly maintained and washed, the exhalation valve will provide consistent exhaust performance.

Can I sleep on my stomach while wearing the SleepWeaver Prevent?

Yes. The air pressure in the mask will keep the mask inflated without pressure points. The mask continues to provide CO2 exhalation as long as a portion of the exhalation holes are exposed.

Can I read or watch TV while wearing the mask?

There is nothing in the field of view so users can read or watch TV and even wear eyeglasses with the mask on.

Can I travel with SleepWeaver Prevent?

Yes. The SleepWeaver product lines are the smallest and lightest masks for travel available. They fold into a very small size when not inflated so they will fit easily into any carrying case you would use for traveling.

Can I use the SleepWeaver Prevent Mask with a broken nose or deviated septum?

We have had a number of users with anatomic issues around the nose report using the SleepWeaver with success. The pliable nature of the SleepWeaver soft cloth CPAP masks allows it to conform to the user’s facial anatomy even if it is not symmetrical.
