“We are very pleased to have Dr. Muelenaer join our Advisory Board.” Said David Groll, CEO of Circadiance. “He brings deep experience in pediatric medicine and product design that will help guide our technical staff in introducing the next generation of monitoring and therapeutic devices” continued Groll.

Dr. Muelenaer has been interested in infant apnea throughout his medical career, establishing the apnea program and pediatric sleep lab at Duke University, followed by a large infant apnea program at Carilion Clinic. “I am excited about the opportunities that Circadiance has in the connected medical device market” stated Muelenaer. “I look forward to being a part of the digital health revolution that Circadiance is a leader in” he continued.

He co-founded the Pediatric Medical Device Institute (PMDI), along with Al Wicks, PhD, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Virginia Tech. PMDI is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to transform needs for pediatric devices to tools at the bedside, through the FDA’s Total Product Life Cycle model. He has mentored dozens of VT engineering and life sciences undergraduates, served on graduate committees of engineering students, and research advisor for medical students and pediatric residents.

Dr. Muelenaer has served as chief medical officer for biomedical startup and early stage companies. He is a board member for local, state, national, and international non-profit health related organizations. He is a veteran of the US Army Medical Corps, with a total of 27 years of active and reserve service.
